Tribute Giving

Honor friends, colleagues, or family in a meaningful way with a tribute or memorial gift.

Make a Gift

A tribute gift is a meaningful way to memorialize a loved one or to honor the impact that a special person has had on your life. We welcome gifts to honor and memorialize beloved pets as well.

The easiest way to make tribute gifts — gifts in memory or in honor of someone — is online at supportuw.org/giveto/tribute.

Once you have selected where you want to direct your gift, you will have the option to check a box that indicates, “Dedicate my gift in honor or memory of a person or pet.” You will also have the option to request that we notify a specific individual of your gift with a mailed acknowledgment.

Resources for Family Members

If you wish to include a memorial fund in an obituary, you might use language such as:

Gifts in [honoree’s] memory may be made payable to “UW Foundation” with a note to direct as a tribute to the [fund name and/or fund number]. Mail to UW Foundation, US Bank Lockbox, Box 78807, Milwaukee, WI 53278-0807. Gifts can also be made online at [dedicated URL] or supportuw.org/giveto/tribute.

Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association staff can assist with providing a fund name and number as well as a dedicated URL. Please email memorialgiving@supportuw.org for assistance.

How does WFAA handle donor information for memorial/honorary funds?
When a properly designated memorial or honorary gift is made, WFAA generally shares the donor name and address with, as applicable, the person(s) who established the WFAA fund, the honoree, and/or the honoree’s next-of-kin unless the donor opts out during the giving process. Gift amounts are not shared. To learn more about how WFAA protects donor privacy and uses your information, please read WFAA’s Privacy Policy.
