International Student Services

International Student Services (ISS) recognizes international students as a vital part of UW–Madison. We are committed to educating and empowering students to make informed decisions and working with them to advocate for a globally inclusive community.

We support this through four operational areas:

• Advising

  We advise F and J international students, alumni, and their dependents on their journey to, through, and beyond UW–Madison. We do this by remaining relevant on immigration policy, compliance, education, and advocacy. We aim to, in partnership with campus stakeholders, empower students to successfully achieve their educational and personal goals.

• Compliance

  We ensure institutional compliance with federal regulations and university policy by maintaining data integrity, providing technical expertise in Terra Dotta, and supporting logistical functions for daily operations.

• Global Engagement

  We seek to intentionally and holistically support international students, campus, and the Madison community through coordinating events and programs that foster a sense of belonging, promote advocacy, and enhance global engagement

• Operations

  We are dedicated to managing the operations of the International Services suite, ensuring the delivery of quality and inclusive services and space for our international community’s utilization. By maintaining a resource hub at the front desk, operated by knowledgeable Peer Advisors, we foster a sense of community and provide peer-to-peer advising services to enhance the visitor experience.

You can support students who utilize the International Student Services office by making a gift to fund emergency financial support and scholarships, programs, activities, speakers or operations. Annual gifts of any amount are encouraged.

In addition, scholarships may be named in honor of you or a loved one. Named endowment gifts are encouraged to help ensure the long-term viability of International Student Services. Gifts at this level provide support for a gift in perpetuity and allow generations of students to realize their educational goals. Interested in establishing a named scholarship fund?
