Announced in May 2019, the Kohl Initiative is already impacting the Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs by expanding the school’s public outreach mission, advancing the training of future public leaders, and supporting influential research led by faculty and students. This innovative program — funded by former U.S. senator Herb Kohl ’56 — is creating opportunities on campus for vital collaboration across departments. As one of the best public policy institutions in the world, the La Follette School is inspiring students’ passion for government law and making strides in enriching the student experience. The school welcomes everyone to the table and offers programming that provides connections between society’s problems and tomorrow’s solutions. Badgers from all backgrounds are empowered with the knowledge that public policy can improve the things they care about. In the video below, UW faculty and students share how this transformational initiative is making a difference for them, the university, and the nation.
