Dave Mott wants to know what your community pharmacist can do for you. He is researching the expanding role of pharmacists in helping older adults become aware of potential fall risks due to medications. Pharmacists are in a unique position to review all medications and suggest modifications to patients and prescribers that can make drug use safer.

Mott’s recent research on this topic seems natural, given his interest in costs and outcomes of Medicare Part D plans, his tracking of the pharmacy labor market for more than two decades and his interest in the expanding role of community pharmacists.

Professor Mott grew up in the Madison area and earned all three of his degrees from the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy. Since joining the faculty in 1998, his students have selected him as Teacher of the Year five times. Mott teaches courses on the health care system and pharmacy service, program and policy evaluation research methods, among other topics.
