What Does WFAA Look for in a Job Candidate?

What are the top qualities that the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association looks for in a prospective employee? For starters, we’re looking for employees whose values align with ours. According to the Gallup company, which is best known for its public opinion polls, its researchers have found that high-quality candidates want their company to align with who they are and what they believe in.

If these WFAA values resonate with you, you’re on the right track:

  • We are serious about delivering results.
  • We work together as a team and with our campus partners.
  • We are committed to alumni, donors, volunteers, and others who count on us.
  • We are open-minded.
  • We create a positive work environment.

WFAA would love to talk with you if you are:

  • Mission-driven — you want to make an impact.
  • Collaborative — you have an ability to partner with campus partners and other colleagues.
  • Intellectually curious — you are a lifelong learner.
  • Innovative.
  • A proactive, results-oriented problem-solver.
  • Committed to donors, volunteers, and alumni.
  • Open-minded and inclusive.

In an article on its website, Gallup maintains that candidates who are mostly interested in pay and benefits, convenient work hours, and so on, are more likely to leave when their personal needs change. But employees who work at an organization because they are passionate about its mission and passionate about what they do are more likely to stick around.

Lower-performing candidates, the article continues, “look for a place where they can do what they are good at, without really seeking challenges and opportunities for growth.” But high-quality candidates want to be challenged; they want to pursue opportunities to learn and grow; and they want to improve others’ lives.

If you are looking for a challenging environment that encourages professional growth and allows you to make a difference by supporting the needs of a world-class research university, WFAA is the place for you!
