With the help of generous lead donors like Ted ’69 and Mary ’68 Kellner, Wisconsin athletics recently launched the Building Champions campaign — the largest capital project in UW athletics’ history. This initiative will replace the Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center, which opened in 1954, and the 35-year-old McClain Center football practice field (pictured above). Each year Wisconsin athletics hosts nearly two million visitors, unifying a community of fans, alumni, and students and generating $757 million per year for the state, making this campaign both visionary and essential. The new sports center will offer a 100-yard indoor football field for full-practice use, an indoor track, a strength and conditioning center, and much more. Wisconsin athletics is currently 62 percent of the way to a goal of $75 million.
“The new indoor football practice facility will be transformational not only for our football student-athletes but also for all of Wisconsin athletics, and we are so thankful to Ted and Mary Kellner for their tremendous support of this project,” explains Chris McIntosh ’04, MS’19, director of athletics. “It demonstrates our commitment to competing for championships and winning on and off the field. Badger student-athletes will reap the benefits of this state-of-the-art facility for decades to come.”
