Professor Corradini is chair of the nuclear engineering and engineering physics program in the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a Wisconsin Distinguished Professor and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Marquette University and graduate degrees in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institutes of Technology. He was appointed co-chair of the American Nuclear Society Special Commission on Fukushima-Daiichi after the nuclear reactors there were damaged by the tsunami generated after the March earthquake that hit the east coast of northern Japan. Corradini testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the House Energy and Commerce Committee in early April regarding the issues surrounding the disaster and recovery.
Professor Corradini examines the questions raised by recent events and updates us on current thinking in the field of nuclear engineering.
