Attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison was Robert Wiedenhoeft’s first choice since he watched Ron Dayne break the NCAA rushing record at Camp Randall Stadium.Wiedenhoeft, from Franklin, Wisconsin, also knew choosing the UW-Madison was the best way for me to hold onto his Wisconsin roots and be well prepared to become a teacher. The Edward N. Himes Memorial Scholarship and Roland W. Zinns Scholarship help him complete his education and validate his hard work. “I do not have to worry about my financial situation, but I instead can focus on developing as a teacher,” he writes, adding a big thank you to donors.
Who has inspired you?
One of my main inspirations is my high school physics teacher. After I had him, I knew I wanted to be an educator. He truly cared about his students, but did not accept mediocrity or anything less than full effort. I saw how my classmates reacted to this and I hope to be an effective educator as his was and is.
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is Camp Randall Stadium. My best memories from being a young child were listening to the band and watching Ron Dayne break the NCAA rushing record. I have been to Badger home games for 13 years now, and am never going to stop!
