The Bascom Hill Society recognizes the highest philanthropic commitment to continued excellence at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Membership in the Society means invitations to special events such as Wisconsin Weekend Away, where participants enjoy three days of lecture, discussion and socializing in a warm location during the cold Wisconsin winter.
Wisconsin Weekend Away takes place in March at the Barton Creek Resort in Austin, Texas. Always featuring the UW’s finest faculty, this year’s roster includes Professor of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Steve Ackerman, Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis Julie Mead and Professor of Political Science and Public Affairs John Witte. Society members and friends will join them for a weekend full of interesting and thought-provoking discussions on climate, education and politics. Past faculty and destinations have included Richard J. Davidson in San Diego, California (2011); Dennis Maki in Naples, Florida (2010); Jonathon Patz, Tubac, Arizona (2009); and Cynthia Haq, Palm Springs, California (2007)
Society membership is extended when alumni or friends meet any of the following gift requirements: $50,000 in gifts and pledges of cash or appreciated securities, $50,000 in irrevocable deferred gifts or $100,000 in revocable deferred gifts such as a bequest or revocable trust (details).
Associate membership is available to anyone making an annual gift of $5,000 or more in any one calendar year. Associate members enjoy all the benefits of Bascom Hill Society membership for one year. This includes invitations to Wisconsin Weekend Away, the Bascom Hill Society Showcase Series and other communications from university and Foundation leadership.
Alumni and friends interested in the Society may contact Kasey Crampton for more information.
