Details

Featuring: Erin Barbato ‘02

Date: March 17, 2020

Time: 12:30–2 p.m.

Location: Canceled

We’ve been monitoring rapidly changing conditions and new information about the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Following recent recommendations from public health officials and guidelines established by UW–Madison leadership, we have decided to cancel all alumni events through April 30, 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation, and we appreciate your continued support of UW–Madison.

During this insightful presentation, explore how shifting asylum policies are impacting access to justice and due process. Professor Barbato has seen firsthand how these changes are affecting those applying for asylum at the southern border of the United States. You’ll hear about how Barbato and her students regularly represent clients seeking asylum and participate in this humanitarian effort. “The bottom line is, we can’t save everybody,” she said. “But everyone has the right to at least seek those protections.”
