From the Garden to the Store: The Commercialization of Herbal Medicines

Before joining the School of Pharmacy as dean in 2003, Jeanette Roberts was a professor of medicinal chemistry, professor of foods and nutrition and professor of pharmacology and toxicology. She earned a PhD in medicinal chemistry and lectures in the course “Herbals, Homeopathy and Nutritional Supplements,” in the Pharmacy Practice Division of the School. Dean Roberts reviews the conceptual framework around dietary supplements and herbal medicines, and outlines the regulatory environment and how it differs from over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Dean Roberts is a uniquely qualified expert and approachable teacher.
