Gifts from alumni and friends are among the UW-Madison’s most vital resources. With your help, the University will continue to set the standard for excellence in teaching, research and public service.
Your gift matters
The power of many gifts is not a new concept. Yet, many prospective and current donors may wonder if their gift is really making a difference. All gifts, regardless of size, when combined with other gifts, create a powerful financial resource for campus. Last year, gifts of less than $500 accounted for $6.3 million supporting people, programs and facilities. In fact, private support (18%) is a larger portion of the budget than tuition (15%) and state support (17%).
You provide opportunities
When you make a gift to a department, School or College, program or specific fund, you are supporting the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. You are providing an opportunity for:
- A first-generation college student with financial need to attend the university.
- A new internship program to be developed to help students gain more “real world” experience.
- An outstanding faculty member to pursue her research for a solution, a cure or a new business.
- Students to use updated lab facilities with industry standard equipment and technology.
- More flexible hours for students to take advantage of tutors, libraries and counseling.
- Students to study abroad to learn more about people, languages, countries and cultures.
- The Wisconsin Experience!
