The Foundation places a high priority on building long-term relationships with donors, and we cannot do that well without cooperation from University faculty and staff.
We really enjoy the thank you’s. It doesn’t have to be real fancy, just to have a name and to know who got her scholarship is fine. We look forward to it every spring.

Nurturing those relationships is called stewardship and includes several key elements
- acknowledging gifts in a timely manner,
- managing gifts ethically and in accord with the donors’ wishes,
- letting donors know the impact of their gifts, and
- connecting donors to the department or program they support.
Faculty, staff and administrators are a key part of stewardship since you best understand the impact of gifts and can help us let donors know their philanthropy makes a difference.
You also can make sure gifts are used, which is a sure sign to donors that their generosity was needed and is appreciated.
