Dr Dipesh Navsaria is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. In addition to his medical degree, he holds graduate degrees in public health as well as children’s librarianship. As a pediatric resident at the American Family Children’s Hospital, he successfully obtained grant funding to start an Inpatient Reading Library within the hospital as well as set up several Reach Out and Read sites, which aim to make literacy promotion a routine part of regular pediatric checkups. The founding medical director of Reach Out and Read Wisconsin, Dr Navsaria’s work sits at the intersection of education, child development, neuroscience, public policy and advocacy. He recently received the Physician Advocacy Merit Award from the Institute for Medicine as a Profession and last year was named Lecturer of the Year by the UW-Madison Physician Assistant Program’s graduating class.
